How Indigo Energy Contributes to Sustainable Development Goals

In this interconnected world, every action matters-especially ones contributing to the future of earth and mankind. Not until recently did the world come together and agree upon a set of actions that would safeguard global sustainability.

In 2015, the United Nations finalized the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a call to action to end poverty and protect the planet by 2030. This marks the period where the world recognizes that action in one area will affect outcomes in others and that sustainable development is essential in social, economic and environmental aspects.

How does Indigo Energy take a part in this?

Indigo Energy’s mission is to safely develop, build, and operate high-quality renewable energy projects. And, we share the UN mission to ensure sustainable development in the energy sector. Our focus includes:

Goal 7: Affordable and Clean: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

Solar is one of the cleanest renewable energy sources and Indigo Energy offers reliable and cost-effective solar PV solutions from Home and Office to Commercial and Industrial buildings in Myanmar. Furthermore, we provide engineering services with competitive prices to international solar developers and installers which helps more renewable projects be completed around the world.

Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth: Promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

The United Nations estimates that 1.6 million jobs were lost in Myanmar as a result of the military coup and the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the turmoil in Myanmar in recent times, Indigo Energy did not lay off its employees and still hires both the undergraduates, fresh graduates and the experienced youths. Employee headcount was 14 in 2019 and became 20 in 2022 increasing 30% even during COVID and Military coup. Providing job opportunities for youths, Indigo Energy also emerges stronger than ever before, taking over from local markets to international markets with the support of young, optimistic, and qualified Burmese engineers.

Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

Any projects developed by Indigo, big or small, contribute to sustainability as people find themselves more reliant on clean energy from solar and become sustainable and resilient concerning their electricity power source, developing less carbon footprint.

With the UN’s SDGs in mind, Indigo Energy will continue to operate with high standards and quality in solar engineering, solar EPC, and project development faster, better, and cheaper. The next time you think about using renewable clean energy and outsourcing engineering service providers, think about Indigo Energy!
